OKC district student gearing up for college

Belenda will graduate this year from U.S. Grant High School in Oklahoma City as valedictorian and will go on to attend the University of Oklahoma in the fall. Utah students build, race electric cars
Middle school GEAR UP students in Utah spent a few months building racecars that culminated in this action-packed event. Students raced their cars to see how students fared in building their cars – this includes fabrication, welding, and a lot of science, engineering, and math.

In West Virginia, GEAR UP students from Valley High School met with fifth graders to promote college readiness. These GEAR UP students are part of the Student Success Society, a group that meets once every month to work together to encourage a college-going culture.

GEAR UP students at Fridley High School in Minnesota, part of the Hennepin Technical College GEAR UP grant, raised money for clean water efforts in Puerto Rico. These students are part of the Young Women's Group, a group that encourages female leadership, community involvement, and academic excellence.
