Hundreds of high school students experience college life at UAB
Students and educators with GEAR UP Alabama have been busy attending special graduations and preparing for their futures. GEAR UP Alabama students recently attended a series of mini-camps highlighting life in college. Over 300 students from 19 schools across the state attended lectures, met with admissions representatives, and spent the night in the residence halls
Ottumwa GEAR UP students explore inner workings of news media
GEAR UP Iowa students recently had the opportunity to visit their local news station to learn more about what it takes to deliver the news to people across Iowa. Students were able to reflect on the impact journalism and media has in their lives and, “... learn about not just the concept of news, but what it takes to deliver it.” Students toured the KTVO studio as a part of their GEAR UP Career Week initiative.
Nevada high schoolers 'Gear Up' to meet with Legislature on Tuesday
May 7th was “GEAR UP Day” at the Nevada Legislature in Carson City, Nevada, celebrating the upcoming graduation of GEAR UP high school seniors as well as the seventh year of the Nevada State Grant. GEAR UP students, school and college professionals, and the GEAR UP leadership team were hosted at the State Capital and received certificates of accomplishment and participation from Governor Steve Sisolak’s office.

Students from Utah State University GEAR UP worked together to develop an electric vehicle that can be charged by the road. Working with the Sustainable Electrified Transportation Center at Utah State University, they showcased an electric vehicle at the Utah Greenpower race.
