The 2026–27 FAFSA form is on track to launch October 1, 2025, with improvements to make the process faster and easier for students and families. 

Two Game-Changing Features 

• Instant ID Checks (August): Students with a Social Security Number will be verified instantly—no more waiting days. This means faster IRS tax data access and smoother applications. 

• Easy Contributor Invites: Students can invite a parent or spouse by entering their email. A unique code will be sent directly—no searching for personal info or mismatched accounts. 

Beta Testing – Get a Head Start 

• Beta 1 (August): Small group testing with select schools, community-based organizations, and colleges. 

• Beta 2 (September): Open to any student or parent—an opportunity to get seniors familiar with the form before launch.

Sneak Peek – FAFSA Prototype
