I was keeping the faith hoping for an in-person CBW convening in February. While it pains me that I will not see all of you in Phoenix, I am looking forward to our chance to connect at the first virtual CBW!
Just two weeks ago, we launched registration. Leading up to the launch, we asked many questions about what the CBW 2021 experience should be. Anticipating the potential risk imposed by COVID, we understood that we had to address not only programmatic needs but also the everyday human needs of GEAR UP professionals.
We consulted the GEAR UP Advisory Commission, we reviewed surveys from previous events, and we took stock of the professional experiences we had throughout the year. We sought to stay true to the CBW format of longer in-depth workshops and shorter skills-building seminars grounded on our national strategy of Excel, Prove, and Mobilize.
We landed on a program centered on foundational GEAR UP concepts but with a twist. The CBW program will take you through topics like grant administration, family engagement, evaluation, college admissions, and communication, and they will include information and tools for navigating the unprecedented obstacles we have experienced this year.
This year has added a load of stress and new challenges to an already full plate. Now, more than ever, we need moments to pause, refocus, and recharge. Well-being sessions are our way of offering that opportunity to you. Attendees will have the chance to explore sessions on emotional well-being, physical health, gratitude, meaningful connections, and productivity. Expert presenters will discuss restorative practices and provide tools that support you as you help students and families.
If you haven’t already, visit www.edpartnerships.org to learn more about CBW offerings. There you will find answers to frequently asked questions, a brief overview of the conference schedule, and access to invoice documentation. I also encourage you to return to the site as speakers are confirmed and added in the coming weeks.
Please reach out if you have questions or need more information. We look forward to the opportunity to connect with you!
