Utah K-12 students learn by building, competing with electric race cars
Utah State University STARS! GEAR UP recently hosted the Mountain West Grand Prix 2021, a student-centered electric racing event. This hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education program is the one and only event of its kind in Utah. Students work as teams in different age categories to design and build single-seat electric cars from kits by GreenpowerUSA according to specific rules and guidelines. Through a project-based learning approach, students learn applied STEM skills as they build their car. During the race, teams use these same skills to keep their cars running.
