Reality of Money

In North Carolina, GEAR UP students that are part of the Appalachian State University program had the opportunity to learn about financial responsibility through the Reality of Money simulation. The GEAR UP program partnered with a number of entities, including the State Employees’ Credit Union, to host an event in which students “transformed” into 25-year-olds and had to build a budget by visiting different stations that influenced their finances.
