GEAR UP program begins work in Valley Center
The Palomar College District was awarded a United States Department of Education GEAR UP Rural and Reservation Grant, in partnership with Valley Center-Pauma, Fallbrook and Vista school districts.
GEAR UP stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs. The grant starts in middle school and, GEAR UP then follows these students as they continue through high school, culminating with their HS graduation (Class of 2022 and 2023) and their first year in college, especially at Palomar College and CSU San Marcos.
To introduce partners to the GEAR UP services and staff, in Valley Center, the Chamber hosted a Kick-Off Reception on Wednesday, November 8. The chamber president Julia Boulos is pictured with some of the attendees.
