'Gear Up NH' launches program to help prepare students for college, careers at younger ages
GEAR UP in New Hampshire is preparing students at Henry J. McLaughlin Middle School and at schools throughout Manchester, for college and career success by implementing various programming initiatives, including college and career planning, guest speakers, and dream walls to inspire ambition and achievement. Stephanie Lesperance, GEAR UP Director, shared her vision for New Hampshire communities, “We would love for all of our kids to go on to college but even if they don’t go on to college, we still want to make sure they have a plan for their future and they’re successful.” School Principal Bill Krantz shared their goal with GEAR UP, "Making it so that college isn’t just a dream...it’s more of a reality...if we can get them believing that now, then that’s a good thing for everybody.”
