GEAR UP Georgia Talks Education

GEAR UP Georgia hosted its first “On the Table” event where close to 45 GEAR UP students, family members, and special guests attended. The event featured conversations with Dr. David Lewis, Muscogee County School District Superintendent. During the event, topics addressing the current state of education, parent and student engagement, and more were discussed, primarily focusing on how the community can support student success after high school. “Dr. Lewis maintains his accessibility and willingness to engage in open dialogue and we appreciate him spending Tuesday evening with us. Many of the students and parents in the room had never met Dr. Lewis prior to this event. I hope they walked away from the experience enlightened, informed and encouraged,” said Randalett L. Williams, GEAR UP Georgia Program Coordinator at Columbus State University.
