GEAR UP Achievers, through the University of Washington, partnered with higher education institutions and private/non-profit organizations to host virtual/hybrid STEM summer camps earlier this summer. Ninth and tenth grade students from South King County received boxes of camp materials in the mail so they had the option to participate remotely or at a socially-distanced, mask-required in-person experience. Students explored topics like coding and robotics, nanomaterials, renewable energy, batteries and energy storage, and more! Stephanie Ung from GEAR UP Achievers shares, “We are so proud to be able to have provided a hands-on learning experience for so many young people after a year of entirely virtual learning.” Learn more here.
