Families learn about finances, budgeting at GEAR UP event
Grand Island Public Schools GEAR UP held a family financial literacy event at First National Bank in Grand Island, Nebraska. Students and their families attended a presentation given by a bankers addressing various financial literacy topics and shared resources on how to budget and save for the future, including saving and preparing for college expenses. “I was a first-generation college student myself and I know how important it is to know how to save in order to be able to afford college. As a student, I never had anyone talk to me about how you afford college and how to start saving” said Asia Berg, GEAR UP family, college and career financial specialist.
