College prep program for Burlington-Edison students goes outdoors

GEAR UP students in Washington State recently had the opportunity to explore the outdoors and learn more about natural habitats and outdoor activity safety. In partnership with the Vamos Outdoor Project, a group of students hiked a local trail and participated in nature education activities. Vamos Outdoors Project staff member Alfredo Corvalan shared that the goal of the Vamos Outdoors Project is to increase outdoors access for Latinx community members. “Most of these kids may not have known about the outdoors,” he said. “I want them to learn about conservation and taking care of the environment.” Read more here.
